Babble On

So everyone left yesterday and I'm already lonely. Mom and Dad flew off to Denver and Erin and Scott went to Utah. I told Melinda I might be calling her at work for some adult conversation. Livy and Erik don't quite cut it for conversation yet. I continue to be having a sleep famine. It's amazing how you can function with only 4 or 5 hours of solid sleep. Although I have felt pretty tired the past few days. Today is my day off from the walking bus and that's really nice. I still need to get Livy off do school in the next half hour. Sommer has birthday party after school today and a not sleep over tonight at the neighbors. We actually had a girl call us last night and tell us we should let her babysit for us on Fridays. We said ok. Hey, we're not stupid. So we're going out tonight. Her older sister used to babysit Sommer long ago. It's hard to believe she's old enough now. Time flies doesn't it. So I think we might go to dinner and a movie, maybe the Illusionist. My parents have seen that twice and obviously liked it. Sean has just about completed the sod. The yard is finally looking good. Our driveway however is getting more scarey. We still have a mountain of bark chips. If anyone wants some come and get it. We have a small pile of dirt and now we have quite a large pile of old sod. So classy! Sean was actually using the sprinklers to water last night for the first time. YAY they work. Thanks Dad F! We finally have more grass than dirt so we can water without worrying about making a mud pool. They weather continues to be beautiful. I love fall days like this. I can hardy believe that it will be October in a couple of days. Liv has a little boyfriend who comes to call regularly now. He lives just a few houses down and is in her pre-school class. They ride their bikes together all over the culdesac. They are really cute. Oh and Erik ate a moth. Not just a little moth but a nice fat juicy dead moth. SICK! I said to Sommer, are you still going to let him give you kisses? She said not today! Well it's time for preschool. LATER

Eating is so exhausting!

Livy after church. See her bitty bangs she cut?

This new early schedule has Livy so tired. Definitely not where I expected to find her sleeping.

Sommer after school one day. Doesn't she look older.Posted by Picasa

Saturday Night

It's Saturday night and I'm waiting for my kids to eat their bed time snack so I thought I would blog a bit. The General Women's Broadcast was tonight and I thought it was better than it has been in the past couple of years. It was nice to have President Hinkley speak. One thing that stood out to me was what Sis Hughes said about seeking peace in our lives. She said something like if we don't petition the Lord for peace in our lives than our children will reflect the turmoil that we feel. I thought that was good advice for mothers and am going to try to do that. I told my kids I loved them when I got home, which I do all the time, but Livy said I love you too Mom, you're in my heart. I said your in my heart too Liv and she said we're connected. The innosense and real insight of a 3 year old. That made me feel really good. Those are the moments that help us survive the rest. Snack time is over and it's time for a quick bath.

Half Way

So the week is half over. Actually more than half because there is no school on Friday. The days seemed to have gone pretty fast so far. Monday, Sean worked in the yard all day. I kept telling him not to over do it but he didn't listen and tuesday he could hardly talk. I feel like I'm slowly starting to feel better. It's only been a week and a half. The problem is that when your a Mom it doesn't matter if your sick. Life goes on and you have to too. Speaking of life going on, Erik has been walking, yes I said walking around the toy room pushing this little toy shopping cart. What else is new.... not much. The girls still like school. Although I found out that they are creating another grade 3 class, so I'm anxious as to what this means for Sommer. She doesn't want a new teacher or to be without her friends. I figure they owe her after the whole knife incident so maybe I can arrange things if I need to. Man I'm boring today. I'll try again later.

Back to School Day

This is Sommer on her first day of Grade 3. Her teacher is Ms. Jensen and Sommer really likes her.

This is Olivia on her first day of Pre-School. Her teachers are Ms. Starky, Ms. Saunders, and Ms. Butt. (no kidding) Her newly cut bangs are cleverly held back in that barrett.

The next picture is the end of the day on the first day of school. She fell asleep on the stairs around 6:30pm, didn't even eat dinner, and she woke up at 7:00 am.

This Week

Well, Sean's parents left for home today. We had a nice visit with them and his Aunt Venus. Sean was very appreciative for all of his Dad's help with the yard. They got the sprinkler system working now the yard just needs the finishing touches. School has been going well for Sommer. The knife boy is back now and he knows it was Sommer who told on him (which had me worried), but she says he is nice to her. She even read with him today. We are very proud of her and how she has handled this situation. Olivia started pre-school yesterday and she was so excited. She ran to the car and into the building and to her class room. It is really great for her. While I was getting her dressed for school she gave herself a hair cut to look beautiful for school she said.

I started this on Tuesday and now it's Saturday morning. The week is over. All of us got colds this week so it has been really fun. I think I've had it the worst. Although Sean is just getting it so we'll see how he does. School is still going well. Both of the girls like it. The weather turned nasty and rained constantly for about 3 days. We did our bags and food pick up for the food drive. That's about it for now. I want to get to Michaels today to frame my name pictures from Hawaii. They are having a 50% off sale. We also really need some food so off to Costco.

Two Days Done A Bajillion More To Go

So Sommer successfully finished her second day of grade 3 today. She has been doing really well. No sadness or saying she doesn't want to go. She hasn't even complained about getting up at 7 in the morning. I must admit it has been really nice to have all my kids asleep by 9. So I have some good stories from the past couple of days. First day of school we are all ready to walk out the door and I notice that Erik is playing with something on the carpet. I am filled with fear as I approach him and realize that it is poo. He has exploded and it leaked out of his diaper and all over the carpet. It's on his hands and legs and between his toes as he was rubbing his feet in it. I think it was the fastest clean up job in the history of baby poo. Why does stuff like that always happen when your about to walk out the door.
Next story:
Sommer's first day was great until the boy next to her pulled a knife out of his desk and said he was going to stab anyone that wasn't his friend. Not a play knife or even a pocket knife but a sharp knife knife. I have to say that I am very proud of Sommer because she immediately went and told the teacher. I talked to the principle today and it sounds like he has been suspended or something. How sad for the boy because he obviously has issues and how terrifying at the same time. The principle commended Sommer and told her she did the right thing. Wow... even in Tuscany. The principle assured me that she that action had been taken and that a plan was in place so I'm going to have to trust that.
I cleaned my house like a mad woman today because Sean's parents are arriving. They are bringing his Aunt for some dental work. The sprinklers continue to be a mystery. My children have gone insane so I am going to put them to bed now.

It Doesn't Feel Like September

Tomorrow is the first day of school and it's supposed to be 30 degrees. That's not farenheit people and for Calgary in September it's hot. It's about that in my house right now. Today we had a ward corn bust and chilli cook off. There was a bouncy house, games and a magic show. The kids had lots of fun. This weekend has been fairly busy. Friday.... I can't even remember how sad is that. Saturday we went to Calaway in the morning, Costco in the afternoon and had the Taylors for a BBQ steak dinner, which was tasty. Sean has been none stop working on the yard. His dentist hands are blistered. Unfortunately tonight they turned them on and they don't work. He is very frustrated to say the least. Sunday I busted out my new sewing machine and made some valances. It works really well. It's a machine for sewing dummies. Then we went for a yummy mexican dinner at Mom and Dad's. It was great not to have to cook. Thanks Mom! Bad new in the Ritchie household. Annie is as we speak in the hospital with a bad case of pneumonia. They admitted her on Sunday because she is not getting enough oxygen. Say a prayer for her and Amy and Brad all you bloggers. Which brings me back to tonight.... the eve of back to school and bath time. School starts at 8 am so we have to get Sommer to bed on time. So ............. good night.
