2 Bum Cheeks Make a Butt

So today I'm getting things ready so that I can go to Banff tomorrow. I promised Sean I would have the house clean and clothes laid out for the kids. I'm really hoping that Erik will cooperate for his Daddy and sleep. I was down another pound today so that's 5. I need to go weigh in at LA today. I always worry that when I weight in I won't be down any on their scale. Sommer had her first lesson with her tutor yesterday. She really liked it and thought it was fun. She wants to go for an hour at a time. I'm very grateful Christine is willing to do it. I'm hopeful that it will really help to improve her reading. We have parent teacher conference this evening. Tomorrow there is no school. YAY! If only my kids would sleep in. One can always dream.... We got some sweet presents for our work team yesterday. I hope they like them. Erik is really trying to walk around. He is cute because the look on his face is so proud of himself. Liv said something funny again. Sommer was arguing with me the other day about something and I said to her "no buts Sommer". Liv looked at me and said "but everyone has butts Mom. 2 bum checks make a butt". We laughed. Well back to the house.

Can It Be Any Colder?!

Man is it cold. I took a pile of kids to school this morning and it said -31 on my car thermometer. With the wind chill they say it is -41. Aren't you so excited Judy! You can hardly breathe when you go outside. I really need to go to Costco today but I don't know if I am brave enough or if I want to subject my kids to that. Life has been pretty much marching on as usual. I officially started LA Weight Loss again. I had to buy some new weeks because mine ran out, unused. That sucks but I want to get the weight off. So far it's been kind of slow. I'm down 3 pounds the first weeks so I guess that's not too bad. I did this clease for 2 days so I was expecting more. Oh well, I don't care how long it takes I'm just going to keep trying. I'm trying to get Erik to dring a bottle so I can ween him. I got a pump to feed him breastmilk in a bottle. This is what I've learned. He only likes breastmilk if it is in my breast. He throws the bottle if regular milk or formula is in it. He will drink a little of Erin's brand of formula in a sippy cup. He will chug anykind of juice in a bottle. Last night he went to sleep drinking a juice bottle. I felt like a bad mother. At least it was half water and he doesn't have any teeth to rot out of his head. This morning I made a warm milk bottle with some sugar in it. He didn't throw it but he didn't drink it either. Any suggestions you Moms out there? Sommer received her report card on Friday and it was good and not so good. Her reading is really starting to affect the other subjects. She is starting with a tutor tomorrow. We are really hoping that will help. I had pictures taken of the kids in the matching Christmas outfits. They turned out really well and I bought way too many. Oh well you can't have too many pictures of your kids right? Well I should go, Banff on Friday YaY!

Erik's First Birthday Party

Erik's party was a huge sucess. Fun was had by all. Erik loves his birthday presents and was quite proud of himself as he ripped the paper off little piece by little piece. He got his hands right into his cake and squished and squished. He didn't eat very much or even get very messy he just loved the feel of the cake in his hands. Melinda took most of the pictures. These are just the ones we took. There will be more to come.

I can't believe it's been a year. Looking at his newborn pictures makes me want to bawl my eyes out. That's the only time in eternity he will be like that. I'm glad I got to be his mother. I wish I could do it again.

Sean and his Dad went to the Flames game after the birthday party and had a great time. As you can see they were right in the spirit of things. The Flames lost... oh well.
